3 Reasons Why PC Gaming is better than console gaming

It's a tough question and although ultimately it will come down to preference, there are some strong reasons to believe that PC gaming is better than console gaming.

Reason 1 : Better Graphics and Higher FPS

PC gaming allows for higher FPS because PCs are not limited by hardware as much as consoles. For current-gen consoles (PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch) most games are limited to 30 FPS with few being limited to 60 FPS. Alternatively, PC gaming allows you to play at FPS that your computer can handle so if you have a high-end PC you can play games at 144+ FPS which is great especially for shooter games. Even if you don’t have a high-end pc you can lower your graphics settings on PC in order to increase your FPS. If you are wondering why FPS is important, see the illustration below.

PC gaming graphics can be much better than consoles provided you have a high-end PC. Additionally PC gaming gives you an option to adjust your graphical settings based on what your PC can run whereas consoles lock you into what it can handle. Because PCs are modular in nature, you can upgrade them whenever you want. This means that you can keep up with constant graphic improvements. However, this also comes with a drawback as the price of graphics cards can be as much as the whole console.

Reason 2 : Better Controls

Most gamers will agree that the keyboard and mouse give you much better control and a better gaming experience than a controller. When it comes to first-person shooters (fps), real-time strategy (RTS), and Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) there is no question that it is a much better way to play those type of games.

Racing games are better played on a controller but PC allows you to plug in an Xbox controller and use it just like you would for a console.

Additionally PC gives you a chance to use many different controllers where consoles lock you into brand controllers unless you’re lucky and a third party made the style you like.

Reason 3 : Affordable Games & More Options

There are way more games available for PC because more Indie companies find it easier to build games for PC. Also, some games would be extremely hard to port over to consoles due to limited controls available for Consoles, games such as World of Warcraft or Total War series. PC games are way more affordable than console games due to all the different sales and the many different online stores available for PC games. Steam is a great option to buy games especially during summer, holidays, and Haloween sales where many of the PC games go on sale for as much as 90% off retail price.

The recently released Epic store has had some nice sales and they offer one free game per week. Even brand new releases can be had at a 10-20% discount if you decide to buy games from online retailers such as CDkeys.com and Greenmangaming.com.

On the flip side, the upfront cost of having a top-of-the-line gaming PC is around $800-$900. So, affordable games help in offsetting the steep entry price.
